Why I Started Cooking

Looking back, it’s hard for me to pinpoint the moment I decided I wanted to be a chef. I have been asked that questions many times through the years. I remember coming home from school and immediately turning Food Network on the TV.

Next thing I know, I am looking at all the culinary schools in the country, trying to find the best one for me.

After thinking about this for a while, I realized that there are 4 things I absolutely adore about cooking and food.

1)Eating

Yep, number 1 is as simple as it gets. I love to eat. There are so many things that I enjoy eating. Eating food is the way God created for us to gain energy. He’s given us the food to eat. I am just so thankful for this simple thing.

2) The beauty of food & the creativity it brings.

God has given us so many beautiful fruits and vegetables that make our plates beautiful. So many dishes have been created through the years. We can create different elements that make our food fun and enjoyable to eat. (And taste amazing too!!)

3)How food ties in with history

Something that has always fascinated me is how regional foods come about. Many times, these things go back centuries to what would grow in the land. This is where traditional recipes come from. They have always been tied together and will continue to be tied together.

4) It brings people together

The most beautiful thing about cooking and eating, is that people are brought together through it. We come together to celebrate holidays around a table. We celebrate birthdays around the table. We talk about happy things, funny things, and sad things while sitting together for a meal. We help each other by bringing meals. Food has always brought people together. And this blog is just another way that food brings people together. I am glad you are here.
